Psalm 46:10 - Listening To God

Be still, and know that I am God.  Psa 46:10 (KJV)

The Lord calls us to silence and inactivity if we want to know Him
intimately. If it were not necessary, He would not admonish us to do it. The
language is so simple and direct and yet we continue to rattle off non-stop
chatter as we rush along the fast-track going our own way!  Why do we do
that? It takes self discipline and the help of the Holy Spirit to be silent.
 Even if we close our mouths, our minds race from one thing to another:  the
unexpected meetings; the unending errands; the unwritten letters; and the
unreturned phone calls. When is the last time you set aside everything else
to be still before God?  If you sincerely want to know Him intimately, you
will schedule some time soon!  How about today?  [In His Time; Walk With
Wisdom]

How well our God knows us!  He is telling us today to cease the everlasting
striving that life is, and just attend to Him.  Have you asked a friend,
"How goes the battle?"  There is a constant tension in life that is
frequently described as a battle.  Our Creator directs us to ease that
tension, for a time.  Be still, from the battle of life; cease striving, for
a moment. It is right at this point that God comes to us, because we have
obeyed Him.  And when He comes, we begin to realize the magnitude of God,
the majesty of God, the righteousness of God.  And as Psalm 46:10 tells us,
there is a time coming soon when even the nations, which are merely
conglomerations of people striving for mastery over one another, will
acknowledge Him and exalt Him also. Take a moment today and purpose to obey
this command: be silent and still, cease striving, stop the battle, and
attend to God.  He desires that you know Him. [In His Time; Walk With

The voice of the Spirit of God is as gentle as a summer breeze-so gentle
that unless you are living in complete fellowship and oneness with God, you
will never hear it. [In His Time; My Utmost For His Highest re 1Th.5:19]

We must individually hear Him speaking to the heart. When every other voice
is hushed, and in quietness we wait before Him, the silence of the soul
makes more distinct the voice of God. He bids us, "Be still, and know that I
am God."[2 PS. 46:10.] Here alone can true rest be found.  And this is the
effectual preparation for all labor for God.  DA363
