Revelation 12:11 - The Heart of Revelation.

Revelation 12:11 (KJV) And they overcame him by the blood of the 
Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their 
lives unto the death. 

INTRODUCTION

Many interpreters view the dramatic conflict between God and 
Satan here in chapter 12 as the heart of Revelation. [NIV SB 2015] 

WORD STUDY

They overcame: 
1.	By the blood. The saints overcame because of the victory of 
Calvary.  
2.	By the word. Literally, "on account of the word," or "on the 
basis of the word." 
3.	Their testimony. Their personal witness concerning Jesus and 
the gospel. 
4.	Loved not their lives. Would die rather than disobey God.

COMMENTARY

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.".... The precious 
blood of Jesus is not meant for us merely to admire and exhibit. We 
must not be content to talk about it, and extol it, and do nothing 
with it; but we are to use it in the great crusade against unholiness 
and unrighteousness, till it is said of us, "They overcame him by 
the blood of the Lamb." This precious blood is to be used for 
overcoming, and consequently for holy warfare. We dishonor it if we do not 
use it to that end. Some, I fear, use the precious blood of Christ 
only as a quietus to their consciences. They say to themselves, "He 
made atonement for sin, therefore let me take my rest." This is doing 
a grievous wrong to the great sacrifice.... We are to use the 
glorious mystery of atoning blood as our chief means of overcoming sin 
and Satan: its power is for holiness.... By the atoning blood we 
withstand corruption within and temptation without. This is the weapon 
which nothing can resist. [Charles H. Spurgeon] 

All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with 
Christ. And if we consent, He will so identify Himself with our thoughts 
and aims, so blend our hearts and minds into conformity to His will, 
that when obeying Him we shall be but carrying out our own impulses. 
The will, refined and sanctified, will find its highest delight in 
doing His service. When we know God as it is our privilege to know 
Him, our life will be a life of continual obedience. Through an 
appreciation of the character of Christ, through communion with God, sin will 
become hateful to us.  As Christ lived the law in humanity, so we may 
do if we will take hold of the Strong for strength. [DA 668]
