Isaiah 50:4 - Encouragement Begins Each Morning.
Isaiah 50:4 - Encouragement Begins Each Morning.
Isaiah 50:4 (KJV) The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the
learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is
weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as
the learned.
Isaiah 50:4 (GWT) The Almighty LORD will teach me what to say,
so I will know how to encourage weary people. Morning after morning
he will wake me to listen like a student.
Isaiah 50:4 (NLT) The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of
wisdom, so that I know what to say to all these weary ones. Morning by
morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.
INTRODUCTION
Isaiah had a habit of waking up in the morning and listening
to God with a particular attitude: ready! He surrendered his day
completely to God. Jesus had that same habit. The Bible says, "Very early
in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the
house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed" (Mark 1:35).
Just as a good breakfast prepares us physically and mentally
for the day, so a morning routine of time with God can transform us
spiritually. It focuses our minds on what we most need to think about: God's
agenda. It increases the likelihood that we will check in with God
throughout the day. Isaiah said his habit equipped him to encourage tired
people, and that will be true of us. When we've let God encourage and
support us, we'll be in tune with God's desires for our day and much
more equipped to support others.
Surrendering to God each morning is as nourishing for the
spirit as a good breakfast is for the body. [The Daniel Plan 365-Day

COMMENTARY
When we are sick, we turn to a medical doctor who has taken
years of training in order to heal the sick. When we are in trouble
in business we frequently turn to an attorney with years of
training. Or for spiritual matters we turn to the minister, usually a
person who holds a degree from a seminary. But listen as God speaks!
All knowledge is from Him! He is able to give "the tongue of those
who are taught," with the purpose of sustaining the weary. And
where and when may we gain this marvelous gift? In the morning as we
draw near Him in prayer, petition, adoration and worship. He will
awaken us to hear "as those who are taught." We have an opportunity to
ask the fount of all knowledge to have a tongue to speak His words,
and an ear to hear His words. [In His Time; Walk With Wisdom]
PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
Come to Me and listen! Attune yourself to My voice, and
receive My richest blessings. Marvel at the wonder of communing with the
Creator of the universe while sitting in the comfort of your home. Kings
who reign on earth tend to make themselves inaccessible; ordinary
people almost never gain an audience with them. Even dignitaries must
plow through red tape and protocol in order to speak with royalty.
Though I am King of the universe, I am totally accessible to
you. I am with you wherever you are. Nothing can separate you from My
Presence! When I cried out from the cross, "It is finished!" the curtain
of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. This opened the
way for you to meet Me face to Face, with no need of protocol or
priests. I, the King of kings, am your constant Companion. (Isa. 50:4;
55:2, 3; John 19:30; Mat. 27:50, 51) [Jesus Calling by Sarah Young]
I am speaking in the depths of your being. Be still, so that
you can hear My voice. I speak in the language of Love; My words
fill you with Life and Peace, Joy and hope. I desire to talk with all
of My children, but many are too busy to listen. The "work ethic"
has them tied up in knots. They submit wholeheartedly to this
taskmaster, wondering why they feel so distant from Me.
Living close to Me requires making Me your First Love--your
highest priority. As you seek My Presence above all else, you experience
Peace and Joy in full measure. I also am blessed when you make Me
first in your life. While you journey through life in My Presence, My
Glory brightens the world around you. (Isa. 50:4; Rev. 2:4; Isa. 60:2)
