John 10:10 - The Abundant Life! [addendum]
John 10:10 " The Abundant Life! [addendum]
John 10:10 (NKJV) I have come that they may have life, and that
they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 (MSG) I came so they can have real and eternal life,
more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
I love to fish. After a long winter, it's one of the things I
look forward to most. One spring I planned a big trip. I made sure my
rods and reels were oiled and ready with new line, and I had all my
lures. I was set for a great, fun-filled day.
I got to the lake before sunrise. The water was calm, and I
just knew I was going to catch my limit of fish. But after two hours
I wasn't having much luck, so I kept changing lures. I wasn't
discouraged. I knew that if I put the right color or shape on the hook, the
fish wouldn't be able to resist - and I was right! Soon after I put a
black and chartreuse split-tail plastic grub on my line, I got my
first catch!
The Bible says that our enemy, the devil, will go to any
length to get us on his line. If were smart enough to stay away from
the lures we used to take, he'll change it up. God wants us to be
wise to our enemy's tactics. Our heavenly Father is not the source of
every bright and shiny thing that wiggles past us. We must always stop
and check with him before we bite.
Father, thank you for making me aware that the enemy often
changes lures in order to trap us. This understanding will help to keep
me safe. In Jesus' name, Amen. [Celebrate Recovery Daily Devotional

To enjoy My Presence more fully, you need to think less and
less about yourself. This is not an arbitrary demand; it's the secret
to living more abundantly. Self-forgetfulness is a delightful way
to live!
Try to become aware of how much time you spend thinking about
yourself. Take a look at your mind's contents. Though your thoughts are
not visible to other people unless you choose to share them, I see
each and every one. When you realize your thinking is unworthy of Me,
make every effort to change the subject. If you're struggling with a
self-centered idea that recurs again and again, try connecting it to a
favorite scripture or a brief prayer. This forms a bridge for your
attention - away from yourself and toward Me. For example, praying "I love
You, Lord can quickly direct your focus to Me.
If you have to repeat this process many times, don't be
discouraged. You are training your mind to seek My Face, and this endeavor is
pleasing to Me. Seek Me, beloved, and live abundantly. (John 10:10; Psa.
27:8; Amos 5:4) [Jesus Always by Sarah Young]
He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30 (NKJV)
