Romans 5:1, 2 - Peace Beyond Human Understanding.

Romans 5:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, since we have 
been justified through faith, we have peace with 
God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom 
we have gained access by faith into this grace 
in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the 
hope of the glory of God.  

Romans 5:1-2 (NLT) Therefore, since we have 
been made right in Gods sight by faith, we 
have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ 
our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, 
Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved 
privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and 
joyfully look forward to sharing Gods glory.  

COMMENTARY PEARL

If You Want Peace
   I distinctly remember the day that I 
accepted Christ into my life. I felt as though 
someone had lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. 
   At the time, I was just a 17-year-old 
kid. What kind of burden does a 17-year-old kid 
carry? It was the weight of my sin. It was the 
weight of my guilt. When God removed that weight, I 
suddenly had a peace in my heart that Id never 
known before. 
   Ive talked to many Christians who have 
experienced the same thing. 
   However, we cannot experience the peace 
of God until we first have peace with God. 
Everyone, before they believe, is at war with God. The 
Bible says, For since our friendship with God 
was restored by the death of his Son while we 
were still his enemies, we will certainly be 
saved through the life of his Son (Romans 5:10 
nlt). 
   Friendship with God brings us personal 
peace. Romans 5:1 tells us, Therefore, since we 
have been made right in Gods sight by faith, 
we have peace with God because of what Jesus 
Christ our Lord has done for us (nlt). 
   The Bible calls it the peace that 
surpasses all human understanding (see Philippians 
4:7). Its independent of circumstances. In 
fact, sometimes Ill notice this peace more 
often in the midst of very difficult 
circumstances. Ive visited people in the hospital who 
ministered to me more than I ministered to them. 
   They told me about how they were sensing 
peace in their hearts, and they knew that God was 
in control. Ive stood in awe of their faith, 
but Ive been even more in awe of the fact 
that God gives us what we need when we need it. 
   Thats the peace God wants to give you,

Before Rushing Down the Aisle
   I'm sure you've noticed how many single 
people really want to get married, and how most 
married couples are always trying to set up their 
single friends. And of course, I'm sure you've 
heard (especially at Christmas get togethers) 
grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents always asking the 
single relatives in the family, "Sooo  anyone 
special in your life?" 
   Yes, marriage is something very special, 
but it is never something to rush into. Too 
often people rush into marriage before they've 
been able to define themselves and become 
complete in God. Some people think getting married 
will make them happy and complete, but putting 
two incomplete people together does not equal a 
whole, but rather two unhappy people in an unhappy 
marriage. 
   We can't look to others to make us happy; 
we have to look to God. Those who are single 
should define themselves in God and find happiness 
in Him, and those matchmakers out there should 
help their single friends and family with this 
process"helping them become whole, before starting to try to 
find them the perfect person to marry.
