John 15:7 - The Key to Answered Prayer.
John 15:7 (CEV) Stay joined to me and let my
teachings become part of you. Then you can pray for
whatever you want, and your prayer will be answered.
John 15:7 (AMPC) If you live in Me [abide
vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and
continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you
will, and it shall be done for you.
COMMENTARY PEARL
How often have you felt that your prayers
were hitting a glass ceiling - as though the Lord
were saying no? Maybe it is because you were
praying outside of His will. Maybe it's because you
were praying for something that God didn't want
you to have.
We need to remember the promise Jesus
spoke of in John 15:7, which says, 'If you abide
in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask
what you desire, and it shall be done for you."
Another version puts it this way: "But if you live
your life in me, and my words live in your
hearts, you can ask for whatever you like and it
will come true for you" (PH). I really like that
version - especially the part that tells us to ask
for whatever we like.
But let's also remember the condition:
"If you live your life in me, and my words live
in your hearts... If you are maintaining a
living communion with God and His words are at home
with you, then your desires are going to change.
Your prayers won't necessarily be the same as
they were before. As you get in sync with the
will of God, you will see that prayer is not
getting God to do what you want Him to do, but
prayer is getting you to do what God wants you to
do.
You will discover the important truth
that prayer is not bending God our way - it is
bending us His way. And then, you just may see your
prayers being answered in the affirmative. [Every
Day with Jesus by Greg Laurie]
COMMENTARY
The promise is "If ye abide in Me, and My
words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and
it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. And John
declares: "Hereby we do know that we know Him, if we
keep His commandments. He that saith, I know Him,
and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and
the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His
word, in him verily is the love of God perfected."
1 John 2:3-5. COL144
If you are in Christ, and Christ is in you,
you will be transformed, renewed, and
sanctified. "If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in
you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be
done unto you." Be sure that Christ is in you,
that your heart is broken and submissive and
humble. God will accept only the humble and
contrite. Heaven is worth a lifelong, persevering
effort; yes, it is worth everything. God will help
you in your efforts if you strive only in Him.

CLOSING THOUGHT
Aligned with Gods Will
The purpose of prayer is not getting our
will in Heaven. Rather, its getting Gods
will on earth.
Imagine for a moment that youre in a
little boat not far from a dock. You throw out your
rope, secure it to the dock, and then pull
yourself in. Now, are you pulling the dock toward
your boat, or are you pulling your boat to the
dock? Its the latter, of course.
In the same way, God is like that dock,
and we need to get aligned with Him in our
prayers. And the closer we align ourselves with His
will, the more that well see our prayers
answered in the affirmative.
Jesus said, If you abide in Me, and My
words abide in you, you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you (John 15:7
NKJV).
The Message puts it this way: But if
you make yourselves at home with me and my words
are at home in you, you can be sure that
whatever you ask will be listened to and acted
upon.
We tend to gravitate toward the latter
part of the verse about asking whatever we
desire. But we need to realize that if were
maintaining a living communion with Him, and His Word is
at home in our hearts, then we will start
praying for what God wants.
The Bible tells us, And if we know
that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that
we have the petitions that we have asked of
Him (1 John 5:15 NKJV).
So dont be afraid to ask God to reveal
His will to you. Dont be afraid to say,
Not my will, but Yours, be done. Never be
afraid to commit an unknown future to a known God.
God loves you, and His plan for you is good.
