Matthew 28:19, 20 - Jesus Great Commission Today.

Matthew 28:19, 20 (NKJV) Go therefore and 
make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them 
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of 
the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all 
things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with 
you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.  

COMMENTARY PEARL

   Tucked into the mirror frame in my 
bedroom is the only note I ever received from my 
dad, who is now with Jesus. Dad was not a writer. 
Nor did he express himself fluently in other 
ways. But I cherish the words he wrote in his 
elementary-style script. "Thanks for the 5 Bibles for my 
birthday. Love, Dad." 
   The whole family knew that for every 
birthday, Christmas, and Father's Day, Dad asked for 
the same gift Bibles. He was a Gideon - part of 
a worldwide group of businessmen who place 
Bibles in hotel rooms, doctor's offices, and 
prisons. The Gideons have a program where you can 
donate Bibles to be given away in honor of someone. 
You then send a card to the person you want to 
honor, telling them how many Bibles you bought in 
their name. 
   Dad didn't care about anything on this 
earth as much as seeing people receive the Word of 
God. He passed up scores of opportunities to get 
all manner of gifts. But ties, candy, movies, 
and other presents weren't important to him. His 
heart was in heaven long before he walked on its 
gold streets. 
   I admire Dad's attitude of laying up 
treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20). I know it gives 
Jesus immense joy when someone makes sharing His 
Word a priority. Although I will ask for dark 
chocolate and funny romance DVDs for my birthday this 
year, I often purchase Bibles in honor of others. 
As long as I'm here, Dad's legacy will 
continue. The light of God's Word will cover the 
earth, one Bible at a time. Jeanette Levellie
