Psalm 100:2 - Singing Praise And Thanks To The Lord Is An Avenue For Joy.

Psalm 100:2 (KJV) Serve the LORD with 
gladness: come before his presence with singing.  

COMMENTARY PEARL

   In today's Scripture, we read, "Serve the 
LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with 
singing!" As C. S. Lewis reminds us, "Joy is the 
serious business of heaven." Serving the Lord with 
gladness is a glorious occupation. On the other hand, 
those who do not serve God with a glad heart 
cancel out all the benefits their service could 
have won them. Charles Spurgeon put it like this: 
"Those who serve God with a sad countenance, 
because they do what is unpleasant to them, are not 
serving Him at all; they bring the form of loyally, 
but the life is absent. Our God requires no 
slaves to grace His throne; He is the Lord of the 
empire of love, and would have His servants dressed 
in the uniform of joy." Let our gladness prove 
that, yes, we serve a good and glad Master.  
   Father, I can imagine that Your mighty 
angels, along with all the redeemed saints in Your 
presence right now, sing for joy at the privilege of 
serving You. I ask today that just a little of that 
great gladness would filter down into my to-do 
list and put a smile in my heart. [A Spectacle of

COMMENTARY

   Learning to thank God for what he has 
given us is an important part of our spiritual 
journey. So how do you make gratitude to God an 
integral part of your life? 
   One of the most important ways to do it 
is by singing. The Bible says, Sing out your 
thanks to him; sing praises to our God (Psalm 
147:7 TLB). Few things make you aware of Gods 
presence more quickly than singing your praise to 
God. And it doesnt matter how much musical 
talent we have. The Bible urges us to make a joyful 
noise. Even pigs do that as they eat! If pigs can 
make a joyful noise, so can we. 
   Christianity is a singing faith. There 
are more songs about Jesus Christ than anything 
or anyone else, even love. Thats why you 
need to be part of a local church. Its not 
just about listening to a weekly message from the 
Bible. At least once a week, you need the emotional 
expression that comes from singing thanks to God. 
Without it, your heart will shrivel. You cant be 
a healthy Christian on sermons alone. You need 
both the impression from the message and the 
expression through the music. 
   I have discovered that the times when I 
least feel like singing are when I need to do it 
the most. When my heart is cold, I need to be 
renewed, restored, and recharged through singing 
thanks to God. In my hectic schedule, I find 
listening to music and singing praise to God renews my 
soul. 
   So turn on your favorite worship songs or 
find a good Christian radio station, and sing 
along. Thank God for all he has given you. And make 
a joyful noise to the Lord. [Daily Devotional
