John 8:36 (NLT) So if the Son sets you free, 
you are truly free.  

COMMENTARY PEARL

   We all have giants in life that we face, 
severe hardships, and seemingly insurmountable 
obstacles and temptations. 
   The apostle Paul reminded the believers 
in Corinth, The temptations in your life are 
no different from what others experience. And 
God is faithful. He will not allow the 
temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are 
tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can 
endure (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT). 
   Whatever youre going through isnt 
unique, necessarily, to you. Someone else is facing 
- or has faced - something similar. Its 
just a matter of what, where, or who your giant 
is. 
   The giant Goliath whom David faced 
wasnt always a giant. When he was born, he 
probably was a very large baby and even a very 
demanding baby. But then he grew into a giant of a 
man. This serves as a reminder that giants 
dont usually start out as giants. They typically 
start small. 
   We dont treat them seriously and 
dont see them as the threat they are, but they 
grow bigger and bigger with the passing of time. 
So often thats how sin works. It starts in a 
way that doesnt seem so threatening. 
   Remember, it was a woman named Delilah 
who brought down the mighty Samson. The name 
Delilah, by the way, means delicate. Samson 
underestimated her, and we know the rest of the story. 
   We need to understand that sin doesnt 
usually start big; it starts small. But we also need 
to realize there is no giant that should be 
overpowering and taunting us, because the Bible reminds 
us, He who is in you is greater than he who 
is in the world (1 John 4:4 NKJV). 
   God is in control, and He is more

COMMENTARY

   Sometimes we feel stuck and begin to 
wonder if we will ever change. We let others label 
us and we start to believe them. We feel 
haunted by past mistakes and don't know how to move 
forward. 
   No matter what you've done or haven't 
done, God's power is big enough to change you. 
There is no sin too great for God's grace. There 
is no habit too big for his healing. There is 
no label too strong for his love. Let me put it 
another way, because I want you to believe this: 
God's power is bigger than your past. 
   And his power is rooted in his love for 
you. He knows who you really are no matter what 
others may label you - or what you label yourself. 
What's true about you now doesn't have to be true 
about you later. The goal is not to "reinvent" 
yourself by striving to be some perfect person but to 
allow God to give you an extreme makeover by 
uncovering your true self in his image, redeemed 
through Christ. What once was no longer has to be. 
God can and will break the labels that have held 
you hostage. 
   You have freedom in Christ to become who 
you were meant to be. 
   Dear Father, I'm so grateful that you 
know everything I've done and still love me. Give 
me strength to overcome my past mistakes and to 
move into the fullness of who you created me to

CLOSING PEARL

   You Think I'm In Jail...... is what the 
young man asked, and it seemed like it from where 
I sat - for he was on the other side of the 
bars. 
   His life story was one continual conflict 
with the law. He was sent to reform school as 
soon as he was old enough. He was an "alumnus" of 
the advanced school for incorrigible youth. Now 
he had matriculated into the "big house" - his 
entrance examination came by way of an armed 
robbery. 
   Sitting in the gray atmosphere of prison, 
he was seeking some way of escape - then found 
it in the Bible. Now, as he expressed it, he 
was no longer in prison; he was free in Jesus 
Christ. So he emphatically stated, "You think I'm in 
jail? No way! You want to know who's in jail?" He 
swept his hands in a wide circle. "I'll tell you. 
All those people who don't know Christ - they're
