Philippians 4:19 - All Our Needs Fulfilled In Christ.
Philippians 4:19 (NIV) And my God will meet
all your needs according to his glorious riches
in Christ Jesus.
INTRODUCTION
This is one the great promises of Scripture.
[Preachers Outline & Sermon Bible]
We can trust that God will always meet our
needs. Whatever we need on earth he will always
supply, even if it is the courage to face death as
Paul did. Whatever we need in heaven he will
supply. We must remember, however, the difference
between our wants and our needs. Most people want to
feel good and avoid discomfort or pain. We may
not get all that we want. By trusting in Christ,
our attitudes and appetites can change from
wanting everything to accepting his provision and
power to live for him. [Life Application SB]
COMMENTARY PEARL
A Sure Supply
One lesson that Jesus would teach us is
to have confidence that God answers every true
petition. Skeptics may question it, humanists may deny
it, and intellectuals may ridicule it. Yet here
is Christ's own promise: "If you abide in me,
and My words abide in you, you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7).
Does this verse mean God gives us a blank
check (so to speak) when we pray? Does He promise
to give us anything we want, if we just keep
asking? No. God loves us too much to answer prayers
that are foolish or might harm us. But the closer
we get to Him - the more we abide in Him and
His word abides in us - the more we will desire
what He desires, and the more our prayers will
reflect His will.
The Bible promises, "No good thing does
he withhold from those whose walk is blameless"
(Ps. 84:11 NIV). Trust that promise with all your
soul.
God longs to bless his children and
bestow on them every good and perfect gift (James
1:7.) In order to receive and enjoy His gifts,
draw near to Him, spend time in His word, and
walk in obedience with Him daily. [Hope for Each
Day by Billy Graham]
COMMENTARY
God Will Meet Your Needs, Not Your
Greeds
One of our biggest worries tends to be
about our ability to provide for our needs.
But it shouldnt be!
The Bible says, My God will meet all
your needs according to the riches of his glory
in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 NIV).
What a joyful promise for those who are
in Christ!
God doesnt promise to meet all your
greeds. He doesnt promise a fancy car or mansion.
God is not a genie in a bottle. But he will give
you all you need.
Most of us dont really understand
this, so we dont pray for it. One of my
favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 84:11: The
Lord will withhold no good thing from those who
do what is right (NLT).
Make note of these three words: no good
thing.
When my kids were growing up, I wanted to
give them good things. I might withhold something
bad from them - something that would harm them
or something that would cause them to be
stunted in their spiritual, physical, or emotional
growth. But I wouldnt withhold anything good from
them.
If I, as a dad, want to give my children
good things, how much more does a Heavenly Father
whos perfect want to do likewise?
God solved your biggest problem - your
sin problem - when he came to Earth and died for
you. If he was willing to do that, dont you
think he cares about the other issues youre
dealing with?
Absolutely. He cares about your finances.
He cares about your health. He cares about your
career. He cares about you! [Daily Devotional by
Rick Warren: https://pastorrick.com/devotional/]
Some days it feels like we never have
enough - enough time, energy, money, patience -
enough of anything. Sometimes our families, our
coworkers, and even our friends drain us and leave us
feeling empty. We aren't giving our family the time
and attention we want, nor are we contributing
our best to our work. Paychecks just seem to
evaporate, one after another, even as the clock keeps
ticking and the calendar pages keep turning.
Just. Not. Enough.
On those days, it's especially important
to remember that God promises to meet all our
needs - as this verse says - "according to the
riches of his glory in Christ." It's easy to assume
this refers to physical needs, but it also
includes other needs - those emotional, spiritual,
psychological deficits we carry. God meets these needs
even as he provides food, shelter, and
transportation for us.
Sometimes we're so focused on meeting
everyone else's needs that we overlook our own. We
forget that we have to keep our tanks filled so we
can lead and serve those around us. Tackling so
many goals, chores, and responsibilities, we
forget our "invisible" needs - for rest, for
reflection, for peace.
But God doesn't forget. When he says
he'll meet all our needs, he means all, including
the ones we may overlook.
Remind me, Lord, to stay connected to you
throughout my day. Bathe me in your peace and help me
to pass it on to those around me. [Daily Power

ILLUSTRATION
Last Sunday, as I headed across the
parking lot after church, a woman I hadn't seen for
a while walked ahead of me. I caught up and
asked the too-traditional question, "How are you
doing?"
She answered, "Great okay, there's
more behind that response." Her smile didn't
fade, but her voice had dropped by several
decibels. She explained that life was great only
because Jesus is good, not because her circumstances
were. She'd been betrayed, made bad relationship
choices when she thought that Jesus wasn't enough,
and she was still recovering from recently
distancing herself from her bad choices, still choking
on the fallout. But her confidence in the
goodness of Jesus had been strengthened in the
process. She could say with conviction that He'd
proved Himself more than enough, even when everyone
else - and her own decisions - disappointed her.
Many of us can point to a time when life
around us crumbled - financially, physically,
relationally - but during that season we learned with
greater clarity to embrace the wonder that Jesus is
the only truth that never lets us down, abandons
or disappoints us.
In some ways, my church friend represents
thrill seekers everywhere - those convinced the
things that thrill the human heart are worldly
experiences, possessions, or other human beings. Jesus
holds us tightly while we discover the truth -
sometimes at great cost - proving again and again that
He is not just more than enough but all we will
ever need. Cynthia Ruchti

CLOSING THOUGHTS
What a source - "God"! What a supply - "his
glorious riches"! What a channel - "Christ Jesus"! It
is your heavenly privilege to trust "all your
needs" to "his glorious riches," and to forget
"your needs" in the presence of "his riches."
In His great love, He has thrown open to you
His exhaustive treasury. Go in and draw upon Him
in simple childlike faith, and you will never
again have the need to rely on anything else. C.
