Isaiah 7:14 - Christmas and Gods Presence.
Isaiah 7:14 (NLT) The Lord himself will
give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive
a child! She will give birth to a son and will
call him Immanuel (which means God is with
us).
COMMENTARY PEARLS
The Promise of His Presence
Sometimes in the face of the grief and
tragedy inevitable in life, there just aren't words
to say...
That's not always easy to remember when a
friend is in pain. We so often want to do or say
something that will make the situation better and the
heartache go away. But we can't...
When the pain is ours, though, we know
that genuine comfort can come simply from
another's presence. We know how superfluous - and
perhaps even annoying - words can be. We just want
someone to be with us in our pain. Answers,
solutions, problem-solving ideas, even words intended
to bring comfort - none of these can be as
helpful as warm, silent presence.
It's no wonder, then, that the greatest
gift God gives is His presence. His name is
Immanuel - "God with us.
For God to be with us indicates that He
has dealt with our sin. Experiencing His divine
presence also means that, no matter who is against
us, every resource of heaven is at our disposal.
Knowing that He is with us is testimony to His
tender love - and nothing can separate us from that
love.
Immanuel - God is with you. Whether you
go to church, to work, to the hospital, God
will always be with you! [Being Still With God
Every Day by Henry Blackaby]
God With Us
I never come to Christmas without
thinking of the thousands of people who are lonely
and troubled at this time of year. I have had
psychiatrists tell me their schedules are overloaded with
people who find the Christmas season almost more
than they can bear because of their loneliness
and isolation.
Christmas is God's reminder that we are
not alone. God revealed in the life, death, and
resurrection of Jesus a reconciling love that rescues us
from separation and loneliness. We are not alone;
God has come down from Heaven to tell us He
loves us!
At this Christmas season you can be
assured that Jesus Christ is here. He is here to
give us hope, to forgive our sins, to give us a
new song, to impart faith, and to heal our
spiritual wounds if only we will let Him.
The Christmas message has not changed
after two thousand years. Christmas still reminds
us that God is with us. If you are lonely this
Christmas, welcome Christ into your life. Then ask Him
to help you reach out to someone else who is
lonely, and show that person His love. [Hope for
Each Day by Billy Graham]
