Psalm 32:8, 9 - God Wants Us To Know The Way.
Psalm 32:8, 9 (NIV) I will instruct you and
teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel
you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse
or the mule, which have no understanding but
must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will
not come to you.
WORD STUDY
Guide you with My eye. i.e., watch over you.
[Andrews SB]
INTRODUCTION
God describes some people as being like
horses or mules that have to be controlled by bits
and bridles. Rather than letting God guide them
step by step, they stubbornly leave God only one
option. If God wants to keep them useful for him, he
must use discipline and punishment. God longs to
guide us with love and wisdom rather than
punishment. He offers to teach us the best way to go.
Accept the advice written in God's Word and don't
let your stubbornness keep you from obeying God.

COMMENTARY PEARL
A Change Of Direction
The word conversion means "to turn
around," "to change one's mind," "to turn back," or
"to return." In the realm of religion, it has
been variously explained as "to repent," "to be
regenerated," "to receive grace," "to experience
religion," or "to gain assurance."
I remember one confirmed alcoholic who
came to one of the opening meetings of a crusade
and said to me, "Mr. Graham, I'm not sure
there's a word of truth in what you're saying, but
I'm going to give your Christ a trial, and if He
works even a little bit the way you say He will,
I'll come back and sign up for life!"
Weeks later he told me that he didn't
quite understand it, but every time he started to
take a drink it seemed as though something or
someone stopped him. Christ had given him victory
over his vicious habit. He returned to his family
and is now living his life for Christ. In other
words, he turned around; he changed his way of
thinking - he had been converted!
What habit do you need a victory over
today? [Peace for Each Day by Billy Graham]
CLOSING THOUGHTS
God made us: invented us as a man invents an
engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would
not run properly on anything else. Now God
designed the human machine to run on Himself. He
Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to
burn, or the food our spirits were designed to
feed on. There is no other. That is why it is
just no good asking God to make us happy in our
own way without bothering about religion. God
cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from
Himself, because it is not there. There is no such
thing. C. S. Lewis in Mere Christianity
God created a void in your heart that is
only His to fill. When life becomes meaningless,
boring, and hard it's because we've been filling it
with anything but Him.
