Psalm 5:3 - God in The Morning And All Day Long.

Psalm 5:3 (NIV) In the morning, O LORD, you
hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests
before you and wait in expectation.

INTRODUCTION

The secret of a close relationship with God
is to pray to him earnestly each morning. In
the morning, our minds are more free from
problems, and then we can commit the whole day to God.
Regular communication helps any friendship and is
certainly necessary for a strong relationship with
God. We need to communicate with him daily. Do
you have a regular time to pray and read God's
Word? [Life Application SB]

COMMENTARY PEARL

The very first outbreathing of the soul in
the morning should be for the presence of Jesus.
Without Me, He says, ye can do nothing. It
is Jesus that we need; His light, His life, His
spirit, must be ours continually. We need Him every
hour. And we should pray in the morning that as
the sun illuminates the landscape, and fills the
world with light, so the Sun of Righteousness may
shine into the chambers of mind and heart, and
make us all light in the Lord. We cannot do
without His presence one moment. The enemy knows
when we undertake to do without our Lord, and he
is there, ready to fill our minds with his evil
suggestions that we may fall from our steadfastness; but
it is the desire of the Lord that from moment
to moment we should abide in Him, and thus be
complete in Him.... OFC40

COMMENTARY

Morning has always been considered the
time best suited for personal worship by God's
servants. Most Christians regard it as a privilege to
devote the beginning of the day to seek fellowship
with God. Whether they think of a whole hour or
half an hour or a quarter of an hour, they agree
with the psalmist when he said, '"My voice shalt
thou hear in the morning, O Lord."
A well-known Christian leader has said,
"Next to receiving Christ as Savior and claiming
the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we know of no
act that brings greater good to ourselves or
others than the determination to keep the morning
watch and spend the first half hour of the day
alone with God." At first glance this statement
appears too strong. The determination to keep the
morning watch hardly appears sufficiently important
to be compared to receiving Christ and the
baptism of the Holy Spirit. However, it is true that
it is impossible to maintain a Christian walk
in the leading and power of the Holy Spirit,
without daily fellowship with God. The morning watch
is the position in which the surrender to
Christ and the Holy Spirit can be fully
maintained.
The morning watch must not be regarded as
an end in itself. It is to serve to secure the
presence of Christ for the whole day. To abide in
Him, kept by Him, doing His will"this cannot be
an irregular practice if we are truly devoted
to Him.
The believer who has made devotion to
Christ his watchword will find in the morning hour
the place where his holy calling is renewed.
During this quiet time, his will is fortified to
walk worthy of his calling. (See Ephesians 4:1.)
His faith is rewarded by the presence of Christ
who is waiting to meet him and take charge of
him for the day. '"We are more than conquerors
through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). A living
Christ waits to meet us. [Andrew Murray 365-Day
Devotional Bible by Barbour]

ILLUSTRATION THE KIDS

The Sounds of Silence
Did you know that you could be right next
to someone in space, shouting at the top of
your lungs, and that person wouldn't hear a
thing? That's not because those space helmets get
in the way. It's because voices travel as sound
waves, and sound waves need something to travel on
- like the atmosphere on Earth. Since there's
no atmosphere in space, sound waves have
nothing to travel on. So astronauts have to talk to
each other using a different kind of wave: radio
waves, which don't need atmosphere to carry them.
But God doesn't need sound waves or even
radio waves to hear us. That's because prayers
carry our voices to God. So if the God who created
the entire universe is ready to listen to
whatever we have to say, why don't we pray more?
At least part of the answer is that we
get distracted and busy. The busyness of school,
church, sports, family, friends, and a zillion other
things gets in the way. Then there's texting and
video games and TV shows and movies and computer
work. On average, we spend almost eight hours a
day staring at some sort of screen, like a TV,
computer, or phone. That's almost sixty hours every
week!
In the middle of all of these fun, cool,
and exciting things, God calls us to "be still"
(Psalm 46:10) and pray to Him. Praying is when we
praise God for who He is, thank Him for all He's
given us, and ask Him for what we need.
Try it today. Find a special place where
you can be alone with God. In a treehouse, in a
corner of your room, or even in a bubble bath. Be
still, talk to God, and listen for Him to answer.
And, remember, God usually speaks with a still,
small voice - so be sure to listen closely.
God, thank You for wanting to spend time
with me. Thank You for always listening to me and
answering my prayers. [Indescribable by Louie Giglio]

AMAZING THOUGHT

Praying is so important that Jesus - God's
own Son - took time to pray. Check out some of
the ways Jesus prayed in Luke 5:16, Luke 6:12,
and Matthew 14:23. [Indescribable by Louie
