the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but

Don't make the mistake of leaving God out of 
your life - if you do, all your accomplishments 
will be futile. Make God your highest priority,

COMMENTARY PEARL

   In some respects, Ive lived like an 
atheist for much of my Christian life. Wait! Before 
you wonder if I'm a spiritual impostor, hear me 
out. You see, despite my love for Jesus, I acted 
as though everything that happened - or didn't 
happen in my life - depended on me. What's worse, 
despite all my Bible reading, prayer, and praises, I 
thought I could somehow manipulate the events in my 
life by my own effort. That's not grace. That's 
not faith. That's the world's way. My way. 
   The Bible tells me plainly that apart 
from Jesus, I can do nothing (John 15:5). Yet, I 
had this idea that I had to make all the best 
decisions to ensure the right outcomes, as though I 
could even determine what the right outcome was in 
the first place. If what happened was not what I 
wanted or expected, I'd assume I'd failed or 
sinned, and it was all my fault. 
   After making the mistake of leaving Jesus 
out of certain parts of my life, I've come to 
the conclusion that I now embrace and believe 
wholeheartedly. Jesus really is entirely sufficient (2 
Corinthians 12:9). He pours out His grace in the 
everyday way I so desperately need, especially on 
those days when I think I can do it myself and try 
to live like an atheist. Isabella Campolattaro
