Psalm 112:1 - Fact, Faith, or Feeling?
Psalm 112:1 (NKJV) Praise the LORD! Blessed
is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights
greatly in His commandments.
Psalm 112:1 (NLT) Praise the LORD! How
joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in
obeying his commands.
INTRODUCTION
Many blessings are available to us - honor,
prosperity, security, freedom from fear (112:2-9) - if
we 'fear' the Lord and 'delight' in obeying his
commands. If you expect God's blessings, you must
revere him and gladly obey him. [Life Application

COMMENTARY PEARL
FEELING
When I understand something of Christ's
love for me as a sinner, I respond with a love
for Christ - and love has feeling. But love for
Christ is above human love, though there is a
similarity. It is a love that frees us from self.
In marriage there is commitment. There is
also feeling. But feelings come and go.
Commitment stays. We who have committed ourselves to
Christ have feelings that come and go - joy, love,
gratitude, and so on. But the commitment remains
unchanged.
It is not the feeling of boldness and
confidence that saves us, but it is our faith in God
that saves us through His forgiveness. Boldness
and confidence result from our having trusted in
Christ. From Genesis to Revelation we are told to
fear the Lord. It is the fear of the Lord that
puts all other fears in proper perspective.
Which of the three words - fact, faith,
and feeling - do you rely on the most? [Peace
for Each Day by Billy Graham]
