1 John 2:3 - What It Means To Know God.
1 John 2:3 (NIV) We know that we have come
to know him if we obey his commands.
INTRODUCTION
A belief that does not lead to obedience is
presumption... Let none cherish the idea that special
providences or miraculous manifestations are to be the
proof of the genuineness of their work or of the
ideas they advocate. When persons will speak
lightly of the word of God, and set their
impressions, feelings, and exercises above the divine
standard, we may know that they have no light in them.

Examine Your Actions
A man once told me, "Billy, last week I
lost twenty-two thousand dollars on a deal
because it was a little bit shady. Before my
conversion I would have clinched the deal without a
thought."
Salvation is free to us, but it cost
Jesus His life. It will also cost you your sins if
you choose to receive His gift. That does not
mean you have to clean up your life before you
can be saved. The Lord knows you don't have the
power to do that. You must come to Him in
repentance, and then His Holy Spirit will move in, take
up residence in you, and empower you to walk
away from sin. That's why Jesus paid for our sins
with His blood - to set us on a new path with the
Holy Spirit as our daily guide.
Do you show your love to Him when you
cheat or lie or go against His commands? Live in
obedience to the Lord, and seek to please Him in
everything you do.
What empowers you to live a new life?
