Psalm 119:160 - Gods Word is Eternal Truth.
Psalm 119:160 (NKJV) The entirety of Your
word is truth, And every one of Your righteous
judgments endures forever.
Psalm 119:160 (NIV) All your words are true;
all your righteous laws are eternal.
INTRODUCTION
One of God's characteristics is
truthfulness. He embodies perfect truth; therefore, his
Word cannot lie. It is true and dependable for
guidance and help (see John 17:14-17). The Bible is
completely true and trustworthy. [Life Application SB]
COMMENTARY PEARL
The great quest for life has always been
to find truth. Universities are filled with
seekers who want to know the truth. But do they
really? Often when they find truth, they reject it
because sometimes the truth hurts. So they turn in
another direction to find a truth that makes them
feel better about their defiance of the truth.
Jesus did not say we would know a truth;
He spoke of the truth. There may be some truth
in various religions and philosophies, but
Jesus is all truth and the Truth. In the same way,
the Bible does not contain God's truth; the
Bible is God's truth.
If our minds and hearts are not filled
with God's truth, something else will take its
place: cynicism, occultism, false religions, and
philosophies. The list goes on. Where there is truth and
error, there is always compromise.
There are those who seek freedom more
than the truth. They are free to reject the
truth, but the freedom they choose will not set
them free. "You shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
What is more valuable to you: freedom or
truth? [Peace for Each Day by Billy Graham]
COMMENTARY
The Scriptures contrast the frailties of
human life with the unchanging stability of the
Word of God (Is 40.6-8). "Change and decay in all
around I see," observes the hymn writer. God and
his changeless Word alone remain the same.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and
forever" (He 13.8). Temporal life is fundamentally
and ultimately insecure. Our stability and
certainty can be derived only from God. His Word is
forever settled in heaven (Ps 119.89). Though the
Christian regards the created world in itself as good
because it comes from the hand of the Creator, the
fact remains that "this world, as it is now, will
not last much longer" (1 Co 7.31). Even the very
heavens and earth will one day be violently
dismantled (2 P 3.7, 11). But the will of God, which
comes to expression in the living and abiding Word
of God, is a permanent reality that will
continue throughout time and eternity. Yes, grass
withers and flowers fade, but the word of our God
endures forever. Isaiah 40.8 [Daily Devotional Bible
