Philippians 4:6-7 - Goodbye to Worry.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) Do not be anxious
about anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (JB) There is no need to
worry; but if there is anything you need, pray for
it, asking God for it with prayer and
thanksgiving, 7 and that peace of God, which is so much
greater than we can understand, will guard your
hearts and your thoughts, in Christ Jesus.
INTRODUCTION
Worry is blind, and cannot discern the
future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning.
In every difficulty He has His way prepared to
bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand
ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing.
Those who accept the one principle of making the
service and honor of God supreme will find
perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet.

COMMENTARY PEARL
Is it a bird, a fish, or both? Flying
fish are marine animals. Despite what their name
indicates, they dont fly as a bird does. When they
jump out of the water, their long, strong fins
enable them to glide in the air up to 650 feet,
creating the illusion of flying. Scientists believe
that flying fish leap out of the water to avoid
predators, which ironically makes them potential prey
for birds.
People tend to do that too. They leap
from the frying pan into the fire, as the old
saying goes. They think they've found the fix for
one problem only to create a different problem
for themselves. They bounce from one supposed
self-help solution to another, only to realize they
are just as anxiety-ridden as ever.
Consequently, they are on an endless search for peace.
Christ doesn't want us to live in that
perpetual state of fear, and today's verse promises
that we don't have to. Paul writes, "Be anxious
for nothing" (emphasis added). That means not
one thing - not our relationships, our finances,
our jobs, our health, our future, or even what
others think about us. When we run to Jesus, when
we pray to Him about our perplexities and in
faith leave them at His feet, when we meditate
upon the Lord's goodness, He promises to change
our negative mindset, and we will obtain that
elusive "peace of God:" which no worldly, temporary
poultice ever provides.
Dear Jesus, I know that You have led me
in the past, and I trust that You will continue
to lead me to Your eternal peace. [The Most
