Psalm 27:1 - God Is Our Light, Salvation and Strength.
Psalm 27:1 (NKJV) The LORD is my light and
my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is
the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be
afraid?
Psalm 27:1 (NLT) The LORD is my light and my
salvation - so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my
fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I
tremble?
COMMENTARY PEARL
With God as our mighty defense, our
Savior, and our restorer, no one can take away what
he offers. Even when our bodies fail, his love
never does. Even when our knees tremble and our
hearts lurch, his peace is palpably plentiful. When
we feel the tendrils of fear creeping into our
consciousness, let's invite the peace of God as we breathe
in his presence. He is here now. He is near
always.
When there is no good news to be heard,
he is still good. When there are endless rumors
of corruption, greed, and wickedness, he is
still merciful, kind, powerful, and true. Let's
remind our souls of his unchanging nature, of his
limitless power, and of his overwhelming love as often
as our hearts need the reminder.
Remind yourself of God's faithful and
loving nature whenever you are bogged down by fear
today. [365 Days of Courage by Sara Perry of

COMMENTARY
It is a fact that the Lord is my light
and my salvation. So why should I be afraid?
Since the Lord fears nothing, why should we fear?
The Scripture also declares that God is a
"very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1). If we
can't trust the all-powerful, all-knowing,
all-loving God of the universe to help us, where can we
turn? But we can trust Him!
God is able, indeed He is anxious, to
deliver us from all sorts of trouble. He wants to
give us strength to overcome the temptation to
sin that separates Him from those He loves, He
wants to give us the courage to confront our
problems (instead of avoiding them or denying them),
and then to find the practical wisdom and help
we need to deal with them.
What do you fear today? Failure?
Rejection? An illness or physical danger? The
uncertainty of the future? Whatever it is, ask God to
help you turn it over to Him, "The LORD is my
light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" [Hope
for Each Day by Billy Graham]
