Isaiah 26:3 - Peace That Surpasses All Understanding.
Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) You will keep him in
perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because
he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) You will keep in perfect
peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are
fixed on you!
INTRODUCTION
We can never avoid strife in the world
around us, but with God we can know perfect peace
even in turmoil. When we are devoted to him, our
whole attitude is steady and stable. Supported by
God's unchanging love and mighty power, we are not
shaken by the surrounding chaos (see Philip. 4:7).
Do you want peace? Keep your thoughts on and
your trust in God. [Life Application SB]
COMMENTARY PEARL
Those who take Christ at His word, and
surrender their souls to His keeping, their lives to
His ordering, will find peace and quietude.
Nothing of the world can make them sad when Jesus
makes them glad by His presence. In perfect
acquiescence there is perfect rest. Our lives may seem
a tangle; but as we commit ourselves to the
wise Master Worker, He will bring out the pattern
of life and character that will be to His own
glory. {DA 331}
COMMENTARY
A Heavenly Focus
Do you have a hard time concentrating on
tasks? We all struggle to tune out distractions.
There are ways to increase your concentration. For
instance, try to eliminate unnecessary diversions,
make sure you get enough sleep and exercise,
minimize fats and sugars in your diet, and take short
breaks while working on big jobs.
Nothing else brings peace like focusing
on our heavenly Father does. Isaiah described
the great day of the Lord when the righteous
will be gathered into the holy city: "We have a
strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls
and bulwarks. Open the gates, that the righteous
nation which keeps the truth may enter in" (Isaiah
26:1, 2). What a place of security that will be!
But we dont need to wait for the
Second Coming to experience such peace. It can
happen now, even amid the distractions that
overwhelm us. Today's promise shows us the way.
Yes, well experience perfect peace in
the New Jerusalem. No more attacks from the
enemy; no more sickness, pain, or death. But even
now, when we learn to trust in the care of our
heavenly Father, when we take time to focus on the
God who promises to always be with us, we can
have peace.
Do you want an inward calm that refuses
to be ruffled by exterior storms? Practice
concentrating on your loving Father in heaven. Pray to Him
multiple times throughout the day. God promises that
when you keep your mind focused on Him, you will
experience serenity.
My heavenly Father, I stop right now to
rest in Your arms. I set aside all distractions
and think about You. [The Most Amazing Bible
