Hebrews 2:13 - Consecrating Our Family To God.

Hebrews 2:13 (NKJV) And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me."

COMMENTARY PEARL

Fortifying the Home
Imagine introducing yourself as "Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz" (Isaiah 8:3). The name literally means "quickly-spoil-haste-plunder." Why did God tell Isaiah to name his son with these words? Because the king of Assyria was about to move quickly to the spoil, hastily to the plunder, in the cities of Samaria. Tragically, that spoil and plunder would include Israelite children.
Today, our children are becoming spoil and plunder for the devil. Hoping to overcome our parental defenses, he besieges our homes with the allurements of secular entertainment. Once inside our "fortress," he quickly takes our children captive.
Since the invention of the internet, worldly entertainment has become not only more depraved but easier to access. Once upon a time, teens living in homes without cable TV had to find a ride to the nearest Blockbuster to rent a DVD. Now, to see R-rated content, they only need to tap an application on a smart device connected to Wi-Fi or, more conveniently, to a 5G network.
In today's text, "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me." Jesus is speaking about bringing all His children to heaven. But the verse comes from Isaiah chapter 8, in which the prophet is speaking of himself and his children. If God could keep Isaiah's family safe from the Assyrians, He can keep ours "without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation" (Philippians 2:15). But notice an important sequence: Consecrating ourselves to God ("here am I") comes before consecrating our children to Him ("and the children"). If our entertainment choices are not sanctified, neither will our children's choices be.
Do you want to present both yourself and your children to God on the day of His coming? Then, by His grace, "fortify" your home against the devil's devices. It's the only way to protect your children.
Heavenly Father, help me to protect my children by cleansing my home of worldly entertainment. [The Most Amazing Bible Promises by Amazing Facts]
