John 21:25 - Jesus - Like No Other.

John 21:25 (NKJV) And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

John's stated purpose for writing his Gospel was to show that Jesus was the Son of God (20:31). He clearly and systematically presented the evidence for Jesus' claims. When evidence is presented in the courtroom, those who hear it must make a choice. Those who read the Gospel of John must also make a choice - is Jesus the Son of God, or isn't he? You are the jury. COMMENTARY PEARL

   I could sit with the hope of this verse for a long time. It's limitless.
   John 21:25 refers to the things Jesus did during His three-year ministry on earth. Working three years is not a long time to fill enough books that overfill the world. That's a lot of accomplishments.
   And that was more than 2,000 years ago. Imagine how much Jesus has done since His years walking the earth, without earth's limitations. I can't grasp it all.
   The Apostle Paul echoed this in Ephesians 3:20, 21 (NIV): "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
   Lately, I've been looking at my to-do list each day and struggling to keep the various activities organized. Work, kids, marriage, faith, fun, bills, exercise, doctor's appointments, groceries. You know.
   When I read John 21:25 and focus first on Jesus, those activities slip into place. Full disclosure, they slip back out of place repeatedly each day, but Jesus knows that.
   He does not demand I fill books everywhere with my accomplishments, but instead Jesus invites me to sit and listen to Him (Luke 10:39). He invites me to experience and accept His peace (John 14:27). Being with Jesus, that's the best way to spend my time. Erin Keeley Marshall

The Jesus Effect
   We have access to libraries of information that will keep generations busy, confirming the overwhelming evidence found in the Bible. Kenneth Scott Latourette, former president of the American Historical Society, stated:
      Even if we did not have the four ... Gospels we could gain a fairly adequate
         impression of [Jesus] and of the salient points of his life, teachings,
         death, and resurrection from ... letters of his followers written within
         a generation of his death...
      It is evidence of his importance, of the effect that [Jesus] has had upon
         history and, presumably, of the baffling mystery of his being that no
         other life ... has evoked so huge a volume of literature... Some
         characteristics stand out so distinctly in the accounts ... that they are
         a guarantee of authenticity, so obviously are they from life and not
         invented or even seriously distorted.
   Search the evidence for yourself, and be convinced.
