Psalm 18:32, 33 - Walking As A Deer.Psalm 18:32, 33 (NKJV) It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places.Psalm 18:32, 33 (NIV) It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. Psalm 18:32, 33 (NLT) God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. 33 He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. Psalm 18:32, 33 (ESV) the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. 33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights. Psalm 18:32, 33 (AMP) The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect? 33 He makes my feet like hinds' feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places. INTRODUCTION God doesn't promise to eliminate challenges; instead, he promises to give us strength to meet those challenges. If he gave us no rough roads to walk, no mountains to climb, and no battles to fight, we would not grow. He does not leave us alone with our challenges, however. Instead, he stands beside us, teaches us, and strengthens us to face them. [Life Application SB 2019] COMMENTARY PEARL Deer Feet A deer's strength lies in its legs. With these powerhouses, certain deer can leap up to 10 feet - and even higher when getting a running start. They can scale nearly vertical inclines with ease and surety. Of particular durability are their feet, or hooves, made from a protein called keratin. Human nails are made from the same. Much less brittle than bone, these keratin hooves are crucial to a deer's survival: They're shock absorbers, defensive weapons, and even make possible scent tracking. David penned this passage to commemorate God's goodness to him. Once a weak and frightened fugitive, David knew he never could have survived his enemies on his own (Psalm 18:17). He thanked God for His promise to make us strong when we are weak, for perfecting our way when we would choose only the road to death (Proverbs 14:12). Take a leap from David's song. Acknowledge your inability to surmount the trials of this world alone. Whether it be a difficult coworker, a family death, personal demons, or anything else, "be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). Allow Him to fulfill His promise in you, to transform your stumbling feet into "the feet of deer." Follow Him as He leads you, secure and sure-footed, on the pathway to the "high places," As Amos 4:13 says, "Who treads the high places of the earth - the LORD God of hosts is His name." And the Lord desires to "cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth" (Isaiah 58:14). He desires for you to triumph over sin and finally scale the heavenly kingdom. Heavenly Father, please make my feet like the hooves of a deer so that I may be strong in Your might.
