Psalm 25:9 - The Humble God Will Guide and Teach His Way.

Psalm 25:9 (NIV) He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.

INTRODUCTION

If we will humble ourselves before him, God will guide us.
We are bombarded today with unlimited temptations to go our own way. Advertising on our TVs, computers, and phones places hundreds of options before us about what we should buy, how we should act, and who we should become. In addition, we are surrounded by a barrage of appeals made by political parties, false religions, and dozens of organizations to support their causes. Add to that the dozens of daily decisions we must make concerning our jobs, our families, our money, and our communities, and we become desperate for someone to show us what the best way is. If you find yourself pulled in multiple directions, remember that the Lord offers to teach you his way (25:9) and show you the path you should choose (25:4, 12). COMMENTARY PEARL

The meek are guided by the Lord, because they are teachable, willing to be instructed. They have a sincere desire to know and to do the will of God... But His promise is only to those who are willing to follow the Lord wholly. God does not force the will of any; hence He cannot lead those who are too proud to be taught, who are bent upon having their own way.  PP 384

Learning Your ABCs
Who created the ABC song? It was first copyrighted by Charles Bradlee in 1834, but its history goes back further than that. Nobody knows who first created the tune, but it's the same song as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," a poem written in 1806 by Jane Taylor. The oldest published version of the tune is from 1761, but the author is unknown. The ABC song first became popular at a time when many children didn't attend school and didn't know how to read or write. It helped them learn the letters of the alphabet.
Today's Bible promise explains how God wants to teach us His ways. Interestingly, Psalm 25 is an acrostic psalm, which means each verse begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet (with small deviations). The essence of this psalm is to remember how God guides those who are humble and have a teachable spirit.
Like a caring teacher, the Lord does not turn away from difficult students. "Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He teaches sinners in the way" (emphasis added). His compassionate nature leads Him to train the rebellious, which includes all of us. And what helps the student learn? "The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way" (emphasis added). A pupil must be teachable to be taught.
To those who "keep His covenant and His testimonies" the "paths of the LORD are mercy and truth?" These two qualities of God's character - compassion and justice or grace and righteousness - will be reflected in the lives of those who humbly learn God's ABCs.
